With continuing advances in CNC equipment, spindles and coolant delivery systems, DW mandrels and reamers are now used to achieve better finishes and tolerances than at any previous time in
the machining of hard and brittle materials.

CID offers unlimited size variations in metal bond mandrels and reamers starting at .011 OD. We also offer resin and copper
resin mandrels in diameters of 1/8” OD to 1” OD.

Any of these products can be modified per customer request with center recesses or slots to facilitate improved coolant flush.

Customers requesting larger OD dimensions are asked to submit prints for quoting purposes.

A.C. DIAMOND DRILLS

Our low cost A.C. diamond drill was developed especially for prototype or low volume hole production. They are effective on hard, vitrous or brittle materials, but cannot drill most metals. A.C. drills are carefully manufactured from virgin diamond grit selected for this service. The shank
material is drill rod .003 to .006 smaller than the drill size. TOLERANCE IS + - .0015. Drilling
is usually performed with a high speed sensitive drill press. The work piece is completely submerged in coolant or under a full flow of coolant. The drill is then reciprocated in and out of the hole, cutting only a few thousandths of an inch per stroke. This pumping action, under water, will clean the cuttings
from the hole and keep the drill cutting freely.


B.C. DIAMOND DRILLS & REAMERS

Our B.C. diamond drills and reamers are similar to the A.C. drills except the diamond section is 50% longer and two flats are ground on the diamond section which increases the cutting speed and life by allowing more coolant to the cutting area. Drilling procedure is the same as for the A.C. drills. Sizes larger than .125OD should be used for a reaming process only. For drilling holes larger than .125 OD diamond core drills are recommended. TOLERANCE is + - .001


D.C. DIAMOND DRILLS & REAMERS

Our D.C. diamond drills and reamers are similar to the B.C. drills except they are manufactured in larger shanks to fit standard collets. The larger shank has a stabilizing effect on the drill and lets you take full advantage of closer tolerances. Sizes larger than .125 should be used for a reaming process only.
For drilling holes larger than .125 diamond core drills are recommended. TOLERANCE is + - .0005
